The Department of Pulmonology and Respiratory Medicine (Bahasa Indonesia: Departemen Pulmonologi dan Kedokteran Respirasi/DPKR) is one of 22 clinical departments of the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Indonesia/FMUI (Bahasa Indonesia: Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Indonesia/FKUI🔗). Our department provides specialty and sub-specialty health care services, research, education, and community services in pulmonology and respiratory medicine. The inclusion of our department to FKUI was officially recognized on 1 September 1978 under the Dean's Decree Number 1599/II.A/FK/1978.

Our department consists of six sub-specialties in the following fields: (1) asthma and COPD, (2) respiratory immunology and ILD, (3) infectious diseases, (4) thoracic oncology, (5) occupational and environmental respiratory diseases, and (6) interventional pulmonology and emergency respiratory care. Our staff are experts in these fields and work to provide the best practice in our department. Our staff come from many backgrounds and are employed by the Universitas Indonesia, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, and the National Respiratory Center Persahabatan Hospital Jakarta.
Our Location
Our department is strategically located at Prof. dr. Hadiarto Mangunnegoro, Sp.P(K) Asthma Clinics Building 2nd Floor, National Respiratory Center Persahabatan Hospital, Jl. Persahabatan Raya No.1, Kelurahan Pisangan Timur, Kecamatan Pulogadung, Jakarta Timur, DKI Jakarta, 13230 Indonesia🔗. The hospital was built between 1961 and 1963 by a joint commission between the government of the USSR and the Republic of Indonesia. Hence, the linked pavillion hospital was named Persahabatan (English: Friendship) to commemorate the bilateral relationship between the governments. Academic activities of medical students enrolling in the pulmonology module and pulmonology residents of FMUI also mainly commenced in Persahabatan Hospital.
Our Health Care Services
As the government appointed Persahabatan Hospital as one of the national referral centers under the Ministry of Health, our department continuously provides collaborative, state-of-the-art pulmonology and respiratory medicine care to patients across Indonesia. Our outpatient facilities include the six sub-specialty, drug-resistant tuberculosis, smoking cessation, and sleep disorder clinics. Our collaborative diagnostic facilities include a biomolecular laboratory, lung performance laboratory, advanced bronchoscopy unit, cardiopulmonary laboratory, radiology unit, and microbiology laboratory. We also provide in-patient facilities, including non-infectious, infectious, one-day care, and respiratory intensive care wards. These facilities are universally offered to our national or private health insurance participants or self-funded patients.
